Papua NPC Athlete is Enthusiastic to Try the International Standard Field

A number of Papuan National Paralympic Committee (NPC) athletes began holding training camps after being vacuum due to the corona virus pandemic.

This time, Papuan NPC athletes held an exercise at the international standard field of Mahachandra University of Cenderawasih (Uncen), Monday (07/27/20).

Papua NPC Chairperson Jaya Kusuma said, this was a declaration towards a centralized training camp (TC). Dozens of NPC Papuan athletes from two sports, namely athletics and soccer, participated.

"The sports that will practice here are athletics from various numbers and soccer," Jaya Kusuma said, Monday (7/27/20).

"We thank the Uncen for allowing us to practice in the Mahachandra Uncen field. It is truly magnificent and of international standard," he continued.

By undergoing training on an international standard course, Jaya hopes that Papuan NPC athletes can produce achievements and break new records at the Paparnas XVI Papua next year.

"I hope that after they train seriously there will be outstanding athletes born from here, and there will be record-breaking records recorded by Papuan NPC athletes in the national and international arena later," he said.

"Hopefully our athletes can excel here, so that the superior Papua can be even better. In West Java yesterday we were fifth and we must be able to penetrate the top three later. If God allows us to win the overall champions, why not," he continued.

Just to note, Mahachandra Uncen Field uses zoysia japonica grass and synthetic athletic trails of international standard. This field will hold athletic sports and soccer preliminary at the PON XX and Peparnas XVI 2021.
