The Government Gives Great Attention to Papua Development
The Minister of the Interior (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said the central government paid great attention to development in Papua where special autonomy was needed to accelerate the process.
"One of the aspirations is to continue the special autonomy for 20 years which is very much needed to accelerate development in Papua," Tito said in Jayapura, Friday.
According to Tito, his visit to Papua together with Menkopolhukam, TNI Commander represented by Kasum TNI and Kapolri represented by Wakapolri was to absorb the aspirations of the Papuan people, one of which was absorbed about the continuation of special autonomy in Bumi Cendrawasih.
"In essence, the government is paying attention to the progress of development in Papua, as conveyed by Menkopolhukam that the government has prepared a scheme to advance the Cenderawasih Earth," he said.
He explained the term "mobility" to help accelerate development in Papua, in the fields of education, health which is obligatory, then infrastructure including the TransPapua road.
"Then agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, plantations, where all ministries and institutions at the central level are also involved to accelerate development," he said again.
Previously, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian attended a meeting with Forkompimda Papua Province regarding the current political situation, disciplining the public to comply with the COVID-19 health protocol, and the implementation of a national vital object program in Papua.
After the meeting, a press conference was held which was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security, Mahfud MD, the Commander of the TNI represented by the Indonesian Military Chief of Staff and the National Police Chief represented by the Deputy Chief of Police.
