Appreciation Center for West Papua Demand Regarding Acceptance of CPNS 80% OAP

The governor and 12 regional heads throughout West Papua left for Jakarta. The goal is to hold an audience with the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan-RB) Tjahjo Kumolo regarding the fulfillment of the CPNS Formasi quota for indigenous Papuans.

"As is well known, indigenous Papuans get 80% quota for CPNS while non-Papuans get 20%. However, when it was announced for the 2018 formation of CPNS for the Manokwari region, only 22% or 83 people passed. This is what provoked the anger of the indigenous Papuan people in Manokwari. And when brought to the National Coordination Meeting on August 3, 2020, 12 regents agreed to join me in flying to Jakarta to meet Menpan RB Tjahjo to maintain the quota, "said the Governor of West Papua Drs. Dominggus Mandacan on Friday (7/8/2020) at the office. Kemenpan-RB.

Further explained by Mandacan, the hearing itself was planned to be held on Thursday (6/8/2020) but because Menpan RB Tjahjo had to make a visit to Yogyakarta, the audience was postponed to today.

"And Praise God, the hearing went well and did not encounter any significant obstacles," said Mandacan.

Mandacan said at the meeting, he told Minister Tjahjo to forward a request to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo to provide an additional quota for the acceptance of CPNS formation 2018.

During the meeting Mandacan also conveyed that President Jokowi would also provide space for the West Papua Provincial and Local Governments to set their own percentage of quotas on the acceptance of CPNS for the 2019 and 2020 formations so that indigenous Papuans who did not qualify for the 2018 formation could be prioritized first.

"We do this to save native Papuans who did not qualify for the 2018 formation of CPNS," said Mandacan.

Minister Tjahjo himself welcomed the proposal and will deliver it to President Jokowi.
