FMPI Supports Special Autonomy Volume 2 for the Advancement of Papua



The Director General (Dirjen) of Politics and General Government of the Ministry of Home Affairs Bahtiar together with the Special Staff of the Minister of Home Affairs for Security, Law and Supervision Sang Made Mahendra Jaya and the Special Staff of the Minister of Home Affairs for Politics and Media Kastorius Sinaga received a representative of protesters from the Indonesian Primordial Student Forum (FMPI) at the Head Office Ministry of Home Affairs, Thursday (13/08/2020).

FMPI visits the Ministry of Home Affairs Headquarters to convey support for Special Autonomy Volume II for the welfare of the people.

"We support the sustainability of the Special Autonomy for Papua and West Papua which side with priority programs for infrastructure development, education, health and economic growth," said Bio Werfete Action Coordinator.

Although they support the sustainability of special autonomy, student representatives encourage the Central Government to evaluate the Special Autonomy for Papua and West Papua in building clean government and good government, and encourage the spirit of the law enforcement process against the abuse of the Special Autonomy Fund.

"We support Otsus, but there must be clear improvements in mechanisms and programs that can benefit Papua's welfare," said Sabil, a representative from FMPI.

Responding to this, the Director General of Polpum Bahtiar said that the Ministry of Home Affairs is very open to aspirations, complaints, suggestions or criticism from the public, including the aspirations of Papuan students who come to deliver demonstrations. Therefore the Ministry of Home Affairs openly accepts representatives of protesters for discussion together.

"Thanks to fellow students. We pride ourselves on the passion, advice and ideas conveyed. Present with us here, Mr. Budi from the Directorate of Special Autonomy who is indeed guarding Otsus on a daily basis, please facilitate the suggestions that have been submitted. If needed, please hold further meetings, ”said Bahtiar.

In line with this, the Special Staff of the Minister of Home Affairs for Security, Law and Supervision Sang Made Mahendra Jaya said, in principle, the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs' policy aims to build prosperity in Papua. In fact, especially the Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian also fully supports the progress of Papua.

"Be assured that the Minister of Home Affairs is very supportive of the development of Papua from all aspects. And the thoughts of fellow Papuan students are very much needed to improve Papua. We are once again proud of our colleagues who are still in college but have thought about the welfare of the Papuan people, ”added Sang Made Mahendra Jaya.
