Papuan culture will be highlighted at the XX Papua Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony or opening ceremony of the largest sports party in Indonesia (PON) XX in 2021 will highlight the indigenous culture of Papua. In fact, the committee plans to involve a number of indigenous Papuan artists.

PB PON Papua Daily Chairman, Yunus Wonda said he had reminded the consultant on the ceremonial sector to involve Papuan artists.

"I have seen the consultants' exposure, they must involve Papuan artists to present the works of Papuan children at the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony of the XX Papua PON, '' said Yunus Wonda after a joint coordination meeting with the ceremonial sector, at Harris Vertu Hotel Harmoni Hotel. , Central Jakarta, Wednesday (12/8/20).

"I have also emphasized to the consultant that the opening ceremony will further highlight or give nuances, Papuan cultural identity," he added.

Not only culture, tourism and other fields are involved. In principle, we emphasize more local Papuan wisdom.

"We prioritize Papuan culture, but there are also other cultures, we show that we are Indonesia, PON Papua is a gathering event for the nation's children," he said.

Apart from Papuan artists, PB PON plans to invite several National artists and revive traditional Papuan songs such as songs belonging to the bands Mambesak, Black Sweet, and Black Brothers.

"We must raise the songs from this Papuan band again, because many Papuan songs have begun to disappear, we will pick them up and play them at every PON venue, we must cheer up the artworks of Papuan legend bands at the implementation of PON later," he explained. .

He further said that the artists were also making PON Papua songs. Thus, at the opening of the PON, the song will be launched.

"We ask Papuan artists to make the song PON, again this will be released at the opening of PON XX in Papua," he concluded.

The implementation of PON XX will be held in Papua on October 2-13, 2021. The event will be held in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke Regency.
