The Improvement of Special Autonomy for Papua Must be Continued
President Joko Widodo's special staff, Billy Mambrasar, met face-to-face as well as gathering with the Yapen Islands Regency Government. The activity took place at the office of the Regent of Yapen Islands, Tonny Tesar.
During the meeting, Billy discussed the achievements of special autonomy, particularly in Yapen. He said that from the evaluation submitted there must be improvements.
"Improvements in special autonomy must be continued for the development of the land of Papua, one of which is in Yapen which is increasingly advanced," he explained, Friday, August 28, 2020.
He added that he would forward several points to the central government, including the delegation of authority to local governments in the use of budgets and efforts to increase community resources, especially indigenous Papuans.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Yapen, Tonny Tesar, conveyed the absorption of aspirations into an activity at a meeting with special presidential staff. This activity was also attended by leaders of organizations, communities and other agencies in Yapen.
"We hope that some of the points conveyed are good enough. All aspirations were conveyed and responded well. The point is everyone wants to build, "he said.
The 4 points of discussion cover the development of the special autonomy region, the delegation of authority in budget management, economic empowerment, and human resources.
"We hope that this aspiration can be well realized by the central government," he said.
