The PUPR Ministry is highly committed to development in Papua
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Regional Infrastructure Development Agency (BPIW) is very committed to development in Papua.
The Head of BPIW Hadi Sucahyono said that the high commitment was evident from the budget disbursed from 2016 to 2019 which continued to increase, even in 2019 the budget reached Rp. 6 trillion for Papua and in West Papua more than Rp. 3 trillion, bringing the total to around Rp. 9 trillion.
Several infrastructure development programs have also been carried out. For example, the construction of the Trans Papua Road which will connect west to east and north to south. Until now, only a few have not been connected, reaching 200-300 kilometers of a total of about 3 thousand kilometers.
Other programs include the construction of the Holtekamp bridge and the construction of the National Border Post or PLBN. One of them is in Skouw in Jayapura, Papua.
Hadi emphasized that the PUPR Ministry not only built the PLBN, but also the surrounding area. The development is carried out in an integrated manner involving the Water Resources, Cipta Karya, Bina Marga, and Housing sectors.
He also said that the PUPR Ministry supports thematic areas such as the National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN), one of which is Raja Ampat. The PUPR Ministry also supports Special Economic Zones (KEK), one of which is the Sorong KEK.
