TNI / Polri Prepare Personnel to Maintain Security Ahead of Indonesia's 75th Anniversary



TNI-Polri ranks in Papua have collaborated with PT Freeport Indonesia's National Vital Objects Security Task Force to tighten security. This was revealed by the Mimika Police Chief AKBP IGG Era Adhinata in Timika, Monday (10/8/2020).

Mimika Police Resort (Polres), Papua continues to coordinate with the PT Freeport Indonesia National Vital Objects Security Task Force to anticipate security disturbances by the Papuan KKB ahead of the 75th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence on 17 August.

Era Adhinata said the security along the Freeport mine road route from the lowlands to the Mimika highlands would be tightened, to prevent the Papuan KKB from disturbing security ahead of the Republic of Indonesia's anniversary.

"What is clear is that security measures to welcome August 17th. We will coordinate with all related units and elements to tighten security along the PTFI route, so that they do not interfere with the August 17 celebration," said AKBP Era Adhinata.

The Mimika Police Chief also appealed to local residents to celebrate the state celebration by placing red and white flags and banners in homes, government offices, shops and others, including on motorized vehicles.

Mimika Police will also work with the National Police Noken Binmas Team to hold social services in several places around the City of Timika.

As well as providing basic food assistance to residents affected by flash floods in several locations in the Mimika lowland area.

"The celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia this year may not be as busy as the previous years, because we are still in a pandemic situation," he said.

Of course, activities that are mass gathering will be eliminated, such as cultural carnivals. During the 17 August celebration, the possibility of participants in the ceremony will also be limited.

"However, all of that does not diminish our wisdom and gratitude for the gift of independence that God has bestowed on the nation and state of Indonesia for 75 years," said AKBP Era Adhinata.
