Papua Must Build Education through Adat Approaches and Local Wisdom

Special Autonomy (Otsus) for Papua has been running for 20 years, but has not touched much on the development of Papuan resources based on indigenous peoples and local Papuan wisdom.

Papuan youth leaders Habelino Sawaki said that many young Papuans can study in various cities and even abroad. All of this is the result of the Otsus program.

According to him, the fundamental problem is neglect of Papuan human development. As a result, there was marginalization as well as a crisis of competence and a crisis of national character.

Now, the mistake of thinking of the central elite has been repeated by the Papuan regional government. Otsus still neglects human resources and tends to build more physically, so in the future OAP development through education by adhering to local customs and wisdom must be the concern of all parties.
