Papuan population census officers Involving 1,492 officers




The 2020 Population Census officers in West Papua Province are provided with an employment card or registered with the Manpower Social Security Administration (BPJamsostek).

Head of West Papua BPS, Maritje Pattiwaellapia, in Manokwari, Tuesday, said that the population census in West Papua involved 1,491 officers spread across all city districts. They will be on duty for a month from 1 to 30 September 2020.

He explained that the second phase of the 2020 Population Census is divided into three zones according to the development of the COVID-19 pandemic in each region. Papua and West Papua, except Jayapura, are included in zone three, where the population census is carried out door to door.

Apart from being registered as a BPJamsostek participant, continued Maritje, all officers have undergone a rapid test (rapid test) for COVID-19 before carrying out their duties.

In addition, said the head of BPS in an effort to prevent the transmission of Covid-19, field officers must strictly adhere to health protocols by wearing masks, face shields and carrying hand sanitizers.

He added that 1,491 census officers in West Papua were recruited from various circles of society such as district employees, students, teachers. Of that number, 314 were appointed as coordinators for the sub-district census (Koseka) and 67 officers for the Task Force (TF).
