Special Autonomy 1000 NCO Program Approved by the Minister of Defense

Defense Minister Prabowo Subiyanto approved the recruitment program for 1,000 Special Autonomy (Otsus) NCOs proposed by Kodam XVIII / Kasuari / West Papua. Participants who can take part in the recruitment are native Papuans.

Pangdam XVIII / Kasuari Maj. Gen. Ali Hamdan Bogra, as reported by Antara in Manokwari, explained that the selection for the recruitment of 1,000 Special Autonomy Officers will be carried out with the West Papua Provincial Government and all districts / cities.

He said, participants who passed would be educated in Rindam throughout Indonesia. This is because the facilities and infrastructure in Rindam XVIII / Kasuari are still limited. It is hoped that the Special Autonomy NCOs can be re-assigned to regencies and cities throughout West Papua.

On the previous occasion, Chief of Staff of the Military Region XVIII / Kasuari Brigadier General Ferry Zein said that the Otsus NCO recruitment program is being communicated with governors, regents and mayors throughout West Papua. The program is expected to be financed through the special autonomy fund (Otsus).

Ferry Zein said that the Kasuari Military Command still needed a large number of personnel to fill the existing and future units.

Regional sons are expected to fill the gap. Kodam XVIII / Kasuari is still growing. His party is pushing for the formation of four new kodim and one Korem in Fakfak to support the work of the Kodam.
