PON Papua Aquatic Venue Received Olympic Standard Certification from FINA

The PON Papua Aquatic Venue was certified as a swimming pool with Olympic standards by the International Swimming Federation FINA.
 
Director of Strategic Infrastructure at the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, said that the certification activities included checking and measuring the dimensions of the pool using the random sampling method carried out by the Head of the PB PRSI Certification Division.
 
The checking, said Iwan, was under the supervision of the Specialist Consultant of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) from Spain through the Video Conference media because they could not attend directly due to restrictions on access to enter Indonesia.
 
"Based on the results of these checks and measurements, it is concluded that the Field of Play or Venue Aquatic Venue Pool for PON Papua is in accordance with the international standards set by FINA," he said.
 
"The hope is that the investment in sports infrastructure which is built with international standards can become an investment in sports achievements, especially swimming," said Iwan.
 
The Papua Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center, Ministry of PUPR, has completed the construction of the Papua PON sports arena, even though this national sports party has been postponed from 2020 to 2021 due to the corona outbreak.
 
Three of the four sports venues built by the Ministry of PUPR were physically completed ahead of schedule, namely a swimming pool and aquatic arena in the Kampung Harapan Sports area, East Sentani District, cricket and hockey arenas (Indoor and Outdoor) in Doyo Baru Village, Waibu District. , Jayapura.
 
Previously, the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono said that the completion of the XX PON venue construction was carried out carefully, starting from the design, construction and supervision stages while still paying attention to the safety aspects which involved supervision from the Construction Safety Committee (K2 Committee).
