Papuan Indigenous Youths Encourage BNPT to Designate KKB as a Terrorist Organization

The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua has not only committed ordinary crimes but has gone beyond the limits of humanity. Therefore, the KKB is included in terrorist activities. Finally, the KKB killed two teachers and an ojek driver in Papua.

"The actions taken by the KKB deserve to be called terrorists," said Papua Indigenous Youth Chairman Jan Arebo after meeting with the head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency, Komjen Pol Boy Rafli Amar in Jakarta, Thursday (15/4).

He also recommended and supported the BNPT in establishing the KKB as a local terrorist organization.

"We give full support to BNPT to establish KKB's status as a local terrorist. Why is that? Because they always carry out terror, murder, "said Jan Arebo.

Jan revealed that if the KKB continued to take action it would be a threat to the state. Because, at the end of 2021, in October, there will be a big event, namely the National Sports Week (PON) in Papua.

According to Jan, the KKB action would make contingents outside Papua terrified. Now, if they are scared, it means that PON doesn't participate in the event.

"This is what we have to think about together. If we want to succeed in PON, it means we also have to create a safe and conducive atmosphere, "said Jan.

Jan explained that his arrival at BNPT was to provide support so that KKB was designated as a local terrorist.

According to Jan, the Head of the BNPT welcomed the proposal of the Papuan Indigenous Youth. In fact, later Papuan Indigenous Youth representatives will be involved in a joint meeting with Komnas HAM regarding the KKB's status as a terrorist.

"Because the KKB wants to be upgraded to terrorist status, but Komnas HAM still has considerations related to human rights violations and so on," said Jan.

BNPT, said Jan Arebo, will also invite regional leaders in Papua together with Komnas HAM for a joint meeting to address the situation in Papua and regarding the KKB's status as a terrorist.

Apart from meeting and coordinating with the BNPT, representatives of the Papuan Indigenous Youths also had the opportunity to meet with the Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo.

"I and the management met with KSAU to express our gratitude for their contribution and attention to sending Special Forces (Paskhas) to Papua to help maintain security, guarding airports in several areas in Jayapura, Wamena, Oksibil and Boven Digul," said Jan.
