KONI Papua-Pangdam Cenderawasih discussed the implementation of PON XX

The management of the Papua Province KONI coordinated with the Commander of the XVII / Cenderawasih Regional Military Command, Maj. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyono, with one of the objectives of discussing security and implementation of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON), October 2-15.

Pangdam XVII / Cenderawasih, Maj. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyono, in an official statement received by ANTARA on Thursday, said the ranks of the XVII / Cenderawasih Regional Military Command always support and assist the Papua Provincial Government in the success of the XX 2021 PON national event in Papua.

"As the Pangdam, I will do my best to support and help make the XX PON 2021 a success which will be rolled out shortly in Papua," said the Pangdam.

Regarding the athletes' achievements, according to the Pangdam, achievements can be achieved through hard work and high winning mentality.

"So with all that, Papuan athletes will be able to excel in the XX PON event. We from the XVII / Cenderawasih Regional Military Command are ready to help and support what KONI Papua needs in making Papuan athletes to excel," the Pangdam added.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary (Sekum) of the Papua Province KONI, Kenius Kogoya, conveyed his arrival with the entourage to the XVII / Cenderawasih Regional Military Command to carry out a gathering with the XVII / Cenderawasih Military Commander.

"The visit of KONI Papua with Mr. Pangdam XVII / Cenderawasih, which had actually been planned for a long time but because of busyness, this is the first time we can visit the Makodam," he said.

Kenius Kogoya added that in addition to visiting the KONI management, there was a discussion with the Military Commander to discuss the readiness of the Papua Province as the host for holding PON XX in October.

"We from KONI ask for assistance from the Pangdam regarding the implementation of PON XX 2021, be it readiness, achievement and security. Apart from that, we are also grateful for the appreciation and support for the facilities that the Military Command has provided for the PON Papua athletes," he added.

The General Secretary of KONI Papua also hopes that in PON XX 2021, Papua Province can present the best and can show Papua is capable of holding national events and Papuan young athletes can also excel.

"We hope that with the support of all parties and existing agencies, Papua Province can be successful in its implementation and successful achievements," he hoped.

PON XX Papua will take place from 2-15 October in four clusters namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika and Merauke Regency. This four-year championship competes in 37 sports and involves more than 6,000 athletes from 34 provinces throughout Indonesia.
