Jokowi continues to commit to advancing Papua

 


Indonesian President Billy Mambrasar's Special Staff (Stafsus) works to realize President Joko Widodo's instructions, in accelerating development in Papua and West Papua. There are five main programs that he launched.

Billy said he was carrying out Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2020, concerning the Acceleration of Development in Papua and West Papua. The five programs that he has launched are in line with the instructions of the Head of State. In particular, it helps to solve problems in Papua, especially the welfare and development of indigenous people

As for the five programs for the acceleration of development, Billy explained, abbreviated as 'BAPER', namely Bring Change.

This program, monitored directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, is expected to produce 100 young Papuan entrepreneurs, in the MSME sector, start-ups, or even the creative industry, "he said.

The second program, is a program from the Ministry of Agriculture, to create 100,000 Millennial Farmers that are currently running in 10 provinces, including Papua and West Papua.

This program is expected to produce 20,000 farmers in these two easternmost provinces of Indonesia, and 80,000 farmers in eight other provinces. This program is a combination of technical training, to capital and processes to link with the market.

The third program, launched the Papuan Talent Management (MTP) website, which contains the best talents of indigenous Papuan children. Furthermore, they will be given training on an ongoing basis, and linked to job opportunities in various sectors, both the private sector and government. This MTP will be managed directly under the supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Director General of Regional Autonomy.

The fourth program is a program to build non-formal learning centers. It is hoped that this will provide access to education to gain expertise so that they can survive. This is in the local context in Papua and West Papua. This program is integrated directly with the strategy of the Ministry of Education and Culture-Research and Technology as the supporting entity.

The fifth program, namely launching an application and website to receive the best input and policy advice for all components of Papuan society, especially young people. This website is called: "Bootcamp Policy for Papua".
