KKB deserves to be designated as a terrorist group
Member of Commission I DPR RI, Syaifullah Tamliha, said that the armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua deserves to be defined as a terrorist group.
According to him, the actions carried out by the KKB in Papua have endangered others and threatened the safety of the state, as stated in Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning Amendments to Law Number 15 of 2003 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2002 concerning the Eradication of Acts Criminal Terrorism Becomes Law.
"Yes, the definition of Law No. 5/2018 on Terrorism is acts of terror that endanger others and threaten the safety of the country. So they deserve to be defined as terrorism," Tamliha told CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (26/4).
The politician from the Golkar Party stated that the KKB in Papua could be criminalized using the Terrorism Law.
Likewise, DPR Commission I member Dave Laksono stated that the KKB in Papua was appropriate to be designated as a terrorism group and to be prosecuted by using the Terrorism Law.
"If I personally have it, the legal consequence is that we can use the Terrorist Law to take action against them. One of them will be subject to layered articles, one of which is the terrorist law," he said.
For information, BIN is now labeling the KKB in Papua as a Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) after a shooting took place, which killed the head of the Papua regional BIN office last Sunday.
I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha was promoted after his death due to a shootout with the Lekagak Telengen group's KKB in Beoga, Puncak Regency, Papua. His rank was raised from Brigadier General to Major General posthumously.
Putu had a firefight while conducting field observations with a number of his members in Kampung Dambet. He immediately stepped down because he wanted to know the current conditions to support the security restoration mission.
