Lifetime Prison Awaits Viktor Yeimo as the Actor of Riots in Papua 2019

The spokesman for the West Papua National Committee or KNPB Viktor Yeimo was named a suspect in the riot in Jayapura in 2019. Viktor Yeimo is the DPO Polda Papua for the riot case in September 2019.

He is known as the main actor in the Papuan riots by gathering and inciting the masses to commit crimes of burning and destroying houses in Jayapura City.

In addition, Viktor Yeimo is known to be the person who ordered the flying of the Morning Star flag in the courtyard of the Papua Governor's office during the rioting.

Previously, the Mayor of Jayapura, Benhur Tomi Mano, said that the municipal government had recorded all the damage and the level of losses caused by the riots in Jayapura.

"(The value) is around Rp. 97 billion," said Benhur when met at the Jayapura Mayor's Office, Wednesday (2/10/2019).

The rioting sparked riots in several places in Papua, such as wamena. This loss was due to the mass destruction and burning of buildings and motor vehicles.

"The total burned was 5 offices, 80 cars, 30 motorbikes and 150 shop houses. The loss reached 25 billion," said Head of Public Relations of Papua Police, Kombes AM Kamal, in Jayapura, Wednesday (25/9/2019).

In addition to the vandalism carried out by Viktor Yeimo, there were also victims who died and were injured, a total of 28 bodies were found and 70 people were injured.

Papua Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri said that in addition to being involved in the rioting, Viktor Yeimo was also involved in a number of other actions such as violations of ITE, Propaganda and several treason acts he committed while serving as chairman and spokesman for the KNPB.

Based on this evidence, the Regional Police Chief confirmed that Viktor Yeimo would be subject to multiple articles and could be sentenced to life imprisonment before Viktor Yeimo was arrested.

Currently the suspect, Viktor Yeimo, is currently undergoing an intensive examination at the Papua Police Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters.
