Papua Deputy Governor guarantees PON Papua 2021 is safe

The National Sports Week (PON) event which will take place in Papua, is only a few months away.

The Papuan regional government continues to accelerate preparations to host PON Papua 2021.

Preparation for Pon Papua 2021 does not only concern the venue or the place where the match is held.

The security factor has not escaped the attention of the regional government ahead of the 2021 Pon Papua.

The Deputy Governor of Papua, Klemen Tinal, also touched on security issues during a meeting with Menpora Zainudin Amali a few moments ago.

Klemen Tinal said that the participants or parties involved in PON Papua 2021 do not need to worry about potential security disturbances.

He said, the armed conflict that recently occurred in Papua, is very far from the location of the XX PON.

"If there is information that seems to describe Papua as unsafe, I am the deputy governor and today I represent the Governor and also as the representative of the central government in the regions, I would like to convey that Papua is safe for matters relating to PON," said Klemen Tinal.

"Because the PON was held in Jayapura, Jayapura Regency, Merauke and Timika."

"The conflict is very far away, which has been happening so far. Let's say that the peak of Papua is two hours by plane from Jayapura, so it is very far away."

"Papua is 3 and a half times the island of Java. It is very wide. So if the PON is held in Jakarta, it means the fuss in Bali. I think the picture is like that," he continued.

Meanwhile, Klemen Tinal who was present representing Governor Lukas Enembe thanked President Joko Widodo for entrusting Papua to organize the PON.

For this reason, PON, which he said was an Indonesian sports party, would be prepared very well.

"We represent the provincial government to thank the central government, both the President and his staff, and the Menpora who always coordinate with us for the success of the National Sports Week," said Klemen Tinal.
