PB PON is ready to hold a test event

The Grand Committee for the XX Papua National Sports Week (PB PON) has prepared a venue that will be used to hold a pre-match or test event for the XX PON from July to August 2021.

The Head of Division I PB PON Papua, Yusuf Yambe Yabdi, said that the test event at PON venues spread across the City and Regency clusters of Jayapura, Merauke and Mimika will be held in July.

Therefore, the schedule and requirements in the venue are being prepared. We are conducting an assessment with the Technical Delegate at the venue, what deficiencies are we going to complete, especially for national and international standard matches, said Yusuf Yambe Yabdi to the press on the sidelines of a coordination meeting with the Jayapura City PON Sub PB at Waringin Sports Hall, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 .

Yusuf said, in the implementation of the test event, all fields will be involved, so that each field can find out its work function for the success of holding the XX Papua PON in October, he said.

Yusuf gave an example of the need at the Mimika Sport Center athletic venue, the committee would install tents for athletes from 34 provinces according to the number of athletes who passed the pre-PON.

"For example athletics in Mimika who passed the Pre PON 34 provinces, we have arranged tents for Papua, East Java and other provinces, the capacity of the tents is adjusted to the number of athletes," he said.

Apart from the need for the venue, said Yusuf, the committee must also prepare a health room, referee / jury and others, so that when the test event is held, each field will already know its place.

So, before the July test event was held. We will hold training or refresher for the committee, referees / judges and committee friends who are in the PON Sub PB in each cluster organizing PON.

After training for the referee, jury and other supporters, we just entered the test event. We plan to do the test event in July - August. And we hope that everything will be finished in August.

He continued, in August we will also experience challenges, where some of our time is left to prepare for the August 17 ceremony, why? Because almost all the leaders of PB PON and Sub PB PON, on average, are heads of Dinas and also take part in meetings with forkopimda to prepare for the August 17 ceremony, so the time allocation in August cannot be maximized for preparing PON. And this is an important note for us in Field 1 specifically in the field of competition for how we can manage the available time so that our remaining readiness can be optimized.

After the test event results, he continued, we will conduct an evaluation, what deficiencies we find in the implementation of the test event, we fix and hopefully what we have done with God's help we can make the match in XX PON 2021 a success.

It is known, PON XX Papua will compete in 37 sports, 56 sports disciplines, 679 number of matches / competitions, and 6,484 athletes' quota.

The total number of participants and PON match equipment that will come to Papua is estimated to be 21,338 people. Of these, they will be scattered based on sports in each cluster, namely the Jayapura City cluster, the Jayapura Regency cluster, Mimika and Merauke.
