PON Papua Will Use Advanced Military Drones

The Great Committee for the National Sports Week (PB PON) XX / 2020 will use military drones to ensure security and maintain the Covid-19 health protocol when PON 2020 Papua takes place in October 2021.

Chairman II PB PON, Roi Letlora emphasized that during the 2020 PON event, it will be equipped with advanced technology in the form of special drones which are actually military equipment requested to help secure the PON Papua event.

Roi said the drone's capacity could detect crowds 3km from the top. Even the sharpness of the camera can detect faces, including people being searched for or blacklisted according to the data from the security team so that they can be detected easily.

"This drone will secure the area in the three PON clusters. The shape is like an airplane so the cover is very large. From Human Resources (HR) we also recruit young Papuans for security. So the concept is more persuasive," said Roi. in the PB PON press conference at Hotel Mulia Jakarta, Thursday (29/4).

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of PB PON XX Papua, Elia I. Loupatty confirmed that there would be a BKO (Under Operation Control) to shift troops from outside Papua for security. He also asked all participants and guests who would be present in Papua at the PON not to worry and doubt about security.

It is known that security has become a big issue ahead of the 2020 PON Papua after the armed conflict between the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) and the TNI-Polri apparatus in Cendrawasih Earth recently.

The head of the Papua Regional National Intelligence Agency (Kabinda), Brig. Gen. TNI I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha, died after being involved in a shootout with KKB in Beoga, Puncak Regency, Papua, Sunday (25/4).

"Since the arrival, security has been going on. Friends do not need to worry about what happened a few days ago, it was far from the location of the PON," said Elia.

"Governor Lucas Enembe said, who said Papua is not safe, Papua is safe. The Pangdam and Kapolda have risked their positions for PON. If the two stars have stepped in, what else needs to be doubted," Elia added.
