PSSI Papua: PON Football Must Win Gold

Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Benhur Tomi Mano asked women, men's and futsal football coaches to get a gold medal at the XX National Sports Week (PON) event in 2021 which will take place in October.

Even BTM, for short, hopes that men's football can close the match by entering the final, to get a gold medal at the Lukas Enembe Stadium.

"Football is a fixed price for the land of Papua, the football team must enter the final and win a gold medal at the XX Papua PON," said BTM to the media crew in Jayapura, Wednesday (19/5/2021).

According to BTM, football is one of the prestigious sports favored by all Papuans. Moreover, the land of Papua is known throughout Indonesia, even the world, not to run out of talents for reliable and accomplished footballers.

"Gold is a fixed price for these three sports, especially this football can lift the dignity of the Papuan people. Through football, this land of Papua is known and football is an idol, almost all people of the age group like to play football, ”he explained.

The man who is the Mayor of Jayapura hopes that the Lukas Enembe Stadium, which is built by the government with world standards, can be a motivation for fighting spirit for the team of coaches and players to seriously train to achieve the gold medal target.

"We must be proud to have the grandest and most sophisticated stadium in Papua. "It must be a motivation for players and coaches to excel, because all eyes are on the PON Papua football, plus it will be witnessed by the Papuan people and of course President Joko Widodo," he hoped.

Apart from men's football which is expected to get a gold medal, Galanita and futsal, PON Papua must be able to win a gold medal.

"It's not only football that we hope to get a gold medal, but futsal and football also have to be a gold medal. Futsal, there are many national team players and Papua galanita who don't know, many achievements have been made. I hope everyone will focus on training to show that Papua is home to reliable and talented athletes, "he concluded.
