Want Papua Ready to Host XX PON, Governor Lukas Enembe Asks All Parties to Increase Focus

The XX Papua 2021 National Sports Week (PON) event is getting closer.

Ahead of the XX PON performance, Papua Governor Lukas Enembe asked the community and components who are members of the National Sports Week Grand Committee (PB PON), KONI to increase focus.

Papua Governor Spokesperson Muhammad Rifai Farus in Jayapura, Sunday (16/5/2021), said that this increased focus was not without reason, considering that the implementation of the four-year championship on Cenderawasih Earth is a few months away.

"Make sure Papua is able to be a ready host from all aspects and be sure that Torang Can," he said.

For the sake of the success of PON, the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) has even formed a small team to strengthen preparations for the implementation of PON XX in Cenderawasih Earth which will be held on October 2-15.

Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Papua Province Dance Yulian Flassy said through this small team, his party would hold regular meetings to discuss the readiness for the implementation of PON XX.

"From this routine meeting, obstacles and problems in the implementation can be overcome and anticipated," he said.

According to Dance, his party also expressed his gratitude for the participation of all stakeholders such as security, in this case the Papua Police and Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih for the successful implementation of both PON XX and National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) XVI.

PON XX will compete against 37 sports which are divided into four clusters namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika and Merauke Regency. After PON is continued by Peparnas XVI in November.
