Intercepted by KKB, 4 TNI Personnel Gunshot Wounds in Bintang Mountains

A total of four TNI members from Infantry Battalion 403 / WP and Mobile Task Force Infantry Battalion 310 / KK suffered gunshot wounds. They were intercepted by an armed criminal group (KKB) while crossing wooden bridge 2, Yapimakot Village, Serambakon District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua, Tuesday night (18/5/2021).

"It is true that there was an incident in Pegbin Regency which caused four TNI personnel who were members of the security task force to be injured in the area," said Dandim 1715 Yahukimo, Lieutenant Colonel Christian Ireuw, Wednesday (19/5/2021).

Meanwhile, efforts to catch the KKB continued. Previously, a member of the Nemangkawi Task Force was injured in a shootout with an armed criminal group (KKB) in Makki village, Puncak Regency, which occurred early Tuesday (18/5/2021).

Papua Police Chief Inspector General Pol Fakhiri said the Nemangkawi Task Force personnel who were injured as a result of being shot in the legs during the shooting contact with KKB had been evacuated to Illaga Hospital.

It was explained that Makki was one of the villages that became the basis for the KKB so that members of the Nemangkawi Task Force tried to approach and enter. In the village it was reported that there were several KKB leaders such as Lingkar, Seltius Waker and Peni Murib.

"The firefight was reported to have lasted until noon," said Fakhiri.

He added that currently the Nemangkawi law enforcement task force is still carrying out cleaning in Mayuberi village. The village was previously controlled by KKB, said Inspector General of Police Fakhiri.
