1 member of KKB Nau Waker Arrested in Mimika Papua

Police arrested one member of the Papuan armed criminal group (KKB) terrorist, Mairon Tabuni. He is a subordinate and relative of Nau Waker, one of the KKB terrorist commanders.

"The arrest of one KKB member was carried out on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 19:15 WIT in the Jalan Ahmad Yani Timika area," said Mimika Police Chief AKBP I Gusti Gede Era Adhinata, Friday (11/6/2021).

It was stated that Mairon was detected in the Kwamki Narama District area. The Nemangkawi Task Force immediately went to the location and followed Mairon.

"When the target crossed Jalan Ahmad Yani using a black Avanza car with police number D 1194 AE, then a team led by Iptu Lukman carried out an ambush and succeeded in securing the DPO target. Then they were taken to the Mimika Police Station for questioning," explained Era.

From the results of the interrogation, Mairon Tabuni admitted to joining the TPN/OPM group in 2017. He said he was invited by Nau Waker (one of the KKB commanders), because at that time he married his relative, Kimi Wenda.

Mairon later admitted that his first act of terror after becoming a KKB was burning a kiosk behind the Tembagapura Police Dormitory in 2017. In the same year, he was also involved in the shooting of containers at Mile 63, Mimika along with other KKB namely Guspi Waker, Tandi, Nau and Edinus Obagau. At that time he was on duty waiting in the forest.

Still in 2017, according to a police statement based on an investigation, Mairon was involved in the terrorist shooting of a white car at Mile 69, but he was not given permission to hold a gun. Then three years later, 2020, Mairon was involved in the terror shooting of a black Brimob vehicle in Utikini.

At that time Mairon Tabuni and other troops were destroying the road so that vehicles could not pass. Currently, the police are still investigating Mairon Tabuni's reason for going to the Kwamki Narama District.

"Whether there is a mission or something, we are still investigating why he arrived in Timika City," said Era after the press conference in the Nemangkawi hall.
