Confession of Former Papuan KKB Members

A former member of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Purom Wenda, Delison Talenggeng, revealed the difficulties he experienced while being a member of the KKB.

This was conveyed by Delison in an interview uploaded on the Instagram account of the Wakasatgas Public Relations Nemangkawi, AKBP Arief Fajar Satria, Saturday (19/6/2021).

When asked if he was tired of being a member of the Papuan KKB led by Purom Wenda, Delison confirmed it. He said he was tired and had trouble finding food.

"Yeah, I'm tired. It's hard (finding food)," said Delison.

Not only that, Delison also admitted that the KKB action had disturbed the authorities and the surrounding community.

"It's really disturbing, so I've been released (out of the Papuan KKB led by Purom Wenda)," he said.

Furthermore, Delison revealed that he could not go anywhere while he was a member of the Papuan KKB. Delison and the other members spend their time hiding in the mountains and can't get to the city. He added that at that time he and other Papuan KKB members could not eat if supplies were running low.

"Not enough food, can't share. (Feel) hungry, little food can't be shared," he said.

Now, after returning to the Republic of Indonesia, Delison admits to feeling happier. Previously, two members of the Papuan KKB led by Porum Wenda had surrendered in April 2021)

They are Yandowa Tanuni and Panius Tabuni. When they surrendered, Yandowa and Panius handed over one revolver to the authorities.

"If he wants to return to society, the condition is that weapons must be returned, there will be forgiveness and (hopefully) he invites other friends to return to society," said the Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri.

The Papuan KKB, led by Purom Wenda, is headquartered in Lanny Jaya Regency. In May 2021, Kabaintelkam Komjen Pol Paulus Waterpauw revealed that the Papuan KKB led by Purom Wenda was part of an inactive group.

“There are old figures, Mathias Wenda is no longer active. Purom Wonda and Endem Wanimbo are also no longer active,” said Paulus.

It is known that in 2019, the Indonesian National Police and the TNI managed to enter Balingga, which is the headquarters of the Papuan KKB led by Purom Wenda. The commander of Kodim 1702/Jayawijaya, Lt. Col. Inf. Candra Dianto, said that Balingga had never been touched.

"Balingga has always been Purom's headquarters, which has not been touched at all," he said.

To be able to reach Balingga, said Candra, the TNI-Polri had to go through a gun battle that was finally able to drive Purom Wenda members back to Teomala.

Not only Balingga, the TNI-Polri also managed to seize a strategic point previously controlled by Purom Wenda, namely the Popome Village in the Mokoni District.
