Construction of the Electricity Network at the XX PON Papua Venue is 95 percent
The PLN Main Unit for the Papua and West Papua Region (UIW PPB) has calculated the electricity demand for the XX 2021 National Sports Week (PON) in Papua. The electricity requirement reaches 126 mega watts.
General Manager of PLN UIW PPB Abdul Farid ensured that the power requirement had been met because the capacity of power plants in the four regencies or cities in operation exceeded that capacity, which was 204 mega watts.
“For electricity capacity in the four locations, the average surplus is around 38 percent of the current peak load. With the need for additional power for PON XX, we estimate the power surplus will still be around 30 percent," said Farid.
Farid admits that the construction of the electricity network to all PON venues has not yet been completed.
Of the 41 competition venues, there are 223 locations that need to build an electricity network to facilitate these activities.
However, the construction of the electricity network has entered the final stage of completion.
"The electrical work process to support the performance at the four locations has reached 95 percent and is targeted for completion in August 2021," he said.
In terms of personnel readiness, PLN has alerted officers to secure the supply of the four-year event.
These personnel will be on duty from September 19 to October 17, 2021.
The implementation of PON XX 2021 is planned to take place on October 2-15 2021 in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika, and Merauke.
There will be 37 sports and 10 exhibition branches that will be competed in PON XX.
