Police Will Check Papuan Local Government Personnel for KKB Weapon Suppliers

The police will examine the ranks of elements within the Puncak Regional Government (Pemda), Papua whose names are written in the notebook belonging to the arms supplier to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) who were arrested on Monday (14/6).

It is known that the alleged weapons supplier named Ratius Murib alias Neson Murib was arrested while transiting at Mulia Airport, Puncak Jaya Regency when he was about to go to Timika on Monday (14/6) yesterday.

"All names in the transaction records will be summoned by investigators," said Head of the Nemangkawi Operations Public Relations Task Force Kombes Iqbal Alqudusy when confirmed, Wednesday (16/6).

Iqbal could not say further about the names listed in the notebook. Including, the person comes from which position or agency.

Iqbal explained that investigators were still investigating the evidence that was secured during the arrest. It is known, the notebook itself says that the Pemda Puncak gave Rp600 million to the Lekagak Telenggen group.

From the information obtained, it is stated that the granting of funds was carried out on February 6, 2021. It was stated that the assistance was given by the Puncak Regional Government to Lakagak Telenggen.

They are also suspected of receiving other assistance from sympathizers of the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM). Then, there is also another notebook containing the rejection of special autonomy and shootings in the Puncak Regency area.

"We are still investigating. The team will continue to dig up information on sources of funds and remittance activities to buy weapons and ammunition from the suspect Neson Murib," he said.

Neson himself when arrested was caught carrying cash amounting to Rp370 million in Rp100 thousand denominations. Iqbal said that Neson was suspected of having carried out a number of firearm transactions and made a profit of up to billions of rupiah.

"The total that was sent and received was Rp. 1,393,100,000," he said.
