Jayapura City Government fully supports PON Papua

The government and the people of the city of Jayapura fully support the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) which will be held on 2-15 October 2021 in Papua.

Jayapura Mayor Benhur Tommy Mano, who was met in Sorong, Monday, said that the Jayapura City Government together with the provincial government and the Ministry of PUPR are preparing 15 venues for 16 sports that will be competed in the PON in the area.

In addition, he said, the local government is also preparing accommodation, tourist attractions and souvenirs to welcome the 34 contingents who will compete in the PON later.

"Especially for the hospitality of the 2,000 people who came to take part in the activity, the city of Jayapura has an excess of 1,900 beds and can be used by the contingent competing in Jayapura district," he said.

It is said that Persipura Jayapura no longer uses the Mandala Stadium for training in order to support the successful implementation of PON.

He added that the local government and the entire community of Jayapura city stated that they were ready to make the implementation of PON a success

"Successful achievement, success as a host, and economic success are the hopes of the people of Jayapura," he added.
