Papua confirms that it is ready to hold XX PON

The Grand Committee of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) has successfully held the grand opening event of PON XX which took place lively at the Governor's Office Courtyard of Papua Province, Jayapura City, Papua.

Papua Province has also emphasized their readiness to hold the grand celebration of the Indonesian sport.

Gebyar PON XX is an event held by PB PON to campaign and promote PON XX which will take place in 4 clusters, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency. The event in the 4 clusters uses a budget of Rp. 76 billion.

This PON XX gebyar event featured local musicians and dances and was colored by the performances of the capital's musicians and also involved local business actors. The goal is at the same time to boost the local community's economy amidst the euphoria of XX PON.

“We hope that this activity can have an impact on local artists and businesses and can be used for economic revival. We are ready to hold PON XX," said the chairman of the committee, Otniel Deda.

The chairman of the Jayapura City PON Sub-PB who is also the Mayor of Jayapura, Benhur Tomi Mano also appreciated the implementation of the XX PON celebration. However, he asked that the event be held by prioritizing strict health protocols.

“I hope that all parties can continue to make this event a success in an orderly and safe manner and implement strict procedures. This activity is an activity to echo the XX PON, which is already in front of our eyes," said Tomi Mano.

Jayapura City is the provincial capital which will be the barometer of the implementation of the XX PON in Papua. Therefore, he emphasized his commitment to the success of PON XX.

"As the Head of Sub-PB PON XX, Jayapura City is ready to support the implementation of PON XX. In the implementation of this PON, we apply the five successes that have been set by PB PON. I invite us to join hands to make PON a success in Papua. Papua is safe and ready to hold PON XX," said Tomi Mano.

The Daily Chair of PB PON, Yunus Wonda said that his party guarantees that in the implementation of the XX PON celebration in 4 clusters, they will continue to prioritize and involve indigenous Papuan children.

Wonda asked that the implementation of PON XX later could give a meaningful impression for the contingents who would come from all over Indonesia.

“In this event on the ground, we must ensure that PON can run well. In this XX PON celebration, we will also ensure the involvement of Papuan children. We will also make sure that in PON later we can unite all the nation's children. Let all those present in Papua come with a smile and we hope that when they return they will have the same impression,” said Wonda.
