PB PON immediately submits the budget to the sub four regions

The Big Committee for the 20th Papua National Sports Week or PON in the near future will immediately delegate financial and administrative authority to the PON Sub-PB in four regions.

The four regions that will be the organizers of the PON sports competition in early to mid-October 2021, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika and Merauke.

The daily chairman of PB PON, Yunus Wonda said that it is planned that next week, PB PON will shift the budget to Sub PB PON, because all administration and regulations have been completed.

PB PON also has a description of the budget requirements for Sub PB PON in each cluster of organizers, except for Merauke which is revising its structure.

However, the revision of the structure of the Sub-PB PON Merauke is considered not a problem, because there are not only a few sports that are contested, just like Mimika.

“The most contested sports are in Jayapura City and Jayapura Regency. We will invite all regional heads of the organizing cluster, for coordination meetings and hand over all financial and administrative authority," said Yunus Wonda, Friday (28/5/2021), evening.

The deputy chairman of the Papuan DPR explained that so far his party had not submitted the budget to the PON Sub-PB, because there were various administrations and regulations that had to be prepared.

Grant funds from the Papua Provincial Government which were ratified in November 2019, only entered the PB PON cash amounting to Rp. 1.5 trillion in October 2020. Because there is an administrative process that must be done first.

Until now there is still a grant of Rp 600 billion from the Papua Provincial Government which has not been received by PB PON. Likewise, funds from the state budget have not been submitted to PB PON.

"After we received the provincial government grant funds in October 2020, January 2021 until now, we need time to prepare all administration and regulations before we submit the budget to the PON Sub-PB. We must straighten this out so that the public does not misperceive," he said.

According to him, there is a mechanism that must be passed before PB PON submits the budget to Sub PB PON, so as not to have an impact on legal problems later.

He said, there was no intention of PB PON withholding the budget because grant funds from the provincial government were aimed at making the implementation of PON successful in the eastern province of Indonesia.

“We know that those who play a role in the success of PON are friends in the area. Miss communication is always there but don't hinder the implementation of PON," he said.

Wonda admitted that he could understand the anxiety of Sub PB PON, because there were about three months remaining before the implementation of the national sporting event.

“We ourselves at PB PON were worried, because the APBN budget did not exist at all. This situation is also experienced by friends in Sub PB PON, "he said.

Previously, regional heads in the cluster organizing PON sports have questioned budget transparency. One of them is the Regent of Mimika, Eltinus Omaleng.

He argues, PB PON is not transparent with regard to the budget.

"There is no disclosure regarding these funds," said Omaleng Thursday (27/5/2021).

He stated that he agreed with the Mayor of Jayapura, Benhur Tomi Mano, who a few days earlier also questioned the transparency of the budget by PB PON.

"We support the implementation of PON. However, the budget must be presented in a transparent manner," he said.
