Central KONI Wants Papuan PON 2020 to be more resounding
The XX National Sports Week, which will take place on October 2-15, 2021 in Papua, is in sight. The event, which was held at the eastern end of Indonesia, is now entering the final preparation stage.
Various preparations have been carried out by both the hosts and athletes from 34 provinces of the country. In three months, people from all over Indonesia will witness the best talents and athletes competing in the biggest national event of the four years.
With all the preparations that have been made, it is only natural that the event began to be echoed. The chairman of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Marciano Norman, the heads of the Provincial and Regency/City KONIs, are expected to share their voice by conveying the results and preparations that have been made as part of efforts to make this biggest sports week event a success in the country.
“The echo of the XX 2020 Papua National Sports Week must be heard throughout Indonesia. So that people can follow what their local athletes have done," said Marciano, Thursday (8/7/2021).
This effort is important because in the midst of the current Covid-19 pandemic atmosphere, the public must be provided with positive information that inspires enthusiasm and optimism.
The proactive efforts of the Regional KONI and the provincial government to convey information related to their preparations are important because of the current restrictions in a number of regions. In addition, the implementation of health protocols before and during the implementation of the upcoming PON is an integral part of efforts to help the government overcome this pandemic.
The strict protocol was also experienced when participating in the inauguration ceremony of the Indonesian National Team which will go to the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Because at the event in foreign countries, the implementation of health protocols is no less strict.
"That's why I always use the Tokyo Olympics as one of our references to keep going well at the 2021 National Sports Week," he said.
