Papua Province plans to implement a regional quarantine by closing all access to and from Papua from August 1 to August 30, 2021. This is one of the preparations for the implementation of the XX Papua PON 2021.
Spokesman for the Governor of Papua Province, Rifai Darus, said the policy was taken to control the Covid-19 pandemic in the Papua region so that it does not get worse.

Governor Lukas Enembe previously also asked the people in the province to make preparations and anticipate plans to close access in and out.

"It is planned that Papua Province will close entry and exit access, both flight and water routes. The closure is expected to take place from August 1 to August 31, 2021," said Darus, in an official statement, Tuesday (20/7/2021).

Rifai said this policy would later be discussed and finalized at an evaluation meeting by the Papua Province Covid-19 Task Force Team on Wednesday 21 July 2021 following up on the results of the Limited Meeting with President Joko Widodo on Monday, 19 July 2021 regarding the Covid-19 pandemic situation. 19 in Indonesia.
