Sustainability of Special Autonomy in the Eyes of the Governor of West Papua
Sustainability of Special Autonomy or often called Otsus Papua continues to reap the pros and cons. Although there is an additional 2.25 percent of Otsus funds in the continuation of Otsus phase II, it is still hotly discussed.
Several student associations continued to demonstrate to stop the flow of funds, even many Papuan figures who continued to reject Otsus because in the discussion of the sustainability of the Otsus funds they were not asked to discuss with the Papuan people, even the first phase of Otsus funds which had been running from 2002 to 2021 with total funds which has entered the typical Papua amounting to Rp.234.6 trillion is said to be unsuccessful because the Special Autonomy funds that have been running for 20 years have only filled certain people.
However, there are some people who still support the sustainability of Special Autonomy or Otsus. One of them is the governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan.
According to him (Dominggus Mandacan) Otsus has played a major role in the success of development in Papua, many people who do not agree with Otsus mean that they reject development in this land.
"Let's support the sustainability of the implementation of Otsus for development and welfare, stop the debate and I urge the public not to be easily provoked by the invitation of parties who reject development in Papua through the refusal of Otsus", said Dominggus Mandacan as the governor of West Papua.
The opinion of the governor of West Papua still supports the sustainability of Otsus, but there are still many things that need attention. One of them is that there is no strict supervision from both the financial side and the KPK, this makes some people feel that the Otsus funds are their salary without paying attention to the indigenous Papuans who live in villages that suffer greatly even in remote parts of the country that have never been visited until now. by their leaders, even many developments such as schools, hospitals, and places of worship that actually need attention, but are only built by non-governmental organizations which, if seen, can cry when they see the situation.
Can the continuation of Phase II of Special Autonomy help and make the condition of the land of Papua better and make the community more prosperous? ? Why didn't the center conduct a survey to the community in the village to ask for their opinion regarding the sustainability of Otsus, but only certain people agreed without knowing their whereabouts and Otsus was continued.
