HEAD OF TKBM SORONG PORT, OTSUS BRINGS CHANGE FOR PAPUA LAND

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has officially signed Law No. 2 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua. The law had previously been approved in the plenary session of the DPR.

Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 21 of 2001 concerning Special Autonomy for the Provinces of Papua and West Papua was signed by President Jokowi on Monday (19/7/2021).

The ratification of the revision of the Special Autonomy Law for Papua is aimed at maximizing the special autonomy funds for the welfare of Papua. It will no longer be left to be managed without clear accountability, but will be accompanied by the Central Government.

Chairman of the TKBM Sorong Port, Daud Asmuruf said that the revision of the Special Autonomy Law had been ratified by the Special Autonomy Special Committee of the House of Representatives.

"I am optimistic that the results of the revision of the Papua Special Autonomy Law by the Central Government will bring goodness to OAP, so I hope to further improve welfare, health, education, decent housing, and overcome unemployment," said Daud

He said that rejecting the revised Otsus was not a good move. Otsus is a good policy from the central government, and then the local government will implement the policy. Therefore, as a society, we must accept good policies and monitor their implementation.

He appealed to all Papuan people to accept the results of the revision of the Special Autonomy Law, because in the revision many improvements have been made that will have a good impact on OAP.
