Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno Develops Tourism at TWA Mangrove Sorong
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno visited the Mangrove Nature Tourism Park (TWA) Klawalu, Sorong city, Monday (25/10/20).
According to the media, Sandiaga Uno's arrival to the mangrove TWA was welcomed by community leaders and ulayat rights owners, as well as Sorong city government officials. Next, Sandiaga Uno planted Mangrove tree seedlings.
“I will plan this as one of the delegation visits that we will show in Raja Ampat, but they must first plant mangroves here as part of the fast movement and mobilization of all potentials. The total from 2018 to 2022 will reach more than IDR 45 billion,” explained Sandiaga Uno on the sidelines of the visit.
Sandiaga Uno said, his party will focus on developing ecotourism in TWA Mangrove by presenting special bicycle lanes and Papuan culinary tours around TWA.
"Here, in addition to open mangroves or mangroves, there will also be bicycle lanes, there are special foods such as papeda, sago caterpillars, and processed crackers from sago," he said.
According to Sandiaga Uno, TWA Mangrove Klawalu is very beautiful with its instagramable photo spots. Of course, it will attract the attention of tourists.
But unfortunately, said Sandiaga Uno, the state of tourism and the creative economy is not doing well because there are 34 million Indonesians who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"In eastern Indonesia, especially the city of Sorong, we will develop a lot of tourism. Earlier, the Secretary of State said that as a city that is the center of the transportation of people's movements in Papua and West Papua, all these regencies stop in Sorong. If possible, don't just stop by, but also buy local products here," he explained.
At the end of the interview, Sandiaga Uno gave his appreciation to the community leaders, in this case the ulayat rights owners, because of their sincerity and generosity in handing over TWA Mangrove to the Sorong city government.
“As we can see, Rp 45 billion has been budgeted for mangrove natural tourism parks. I appreciate the ulayat rights owners for their sincerity and generosity in handing them over to the city government. Now, after being submitted, we can collaborate because one of the requirements is the land issue and the legal aspects, everything must be clear," he concluded.
