The Arfak Tribal Leader Speaks About Raising the Morning Star Flag

The raising of the Morning Star flag by an unknown person (OTK) at the Telkomsel Tower in Table Mountain, West Manokwari District, Manokwari Regency, West Papua, has raised a number of concerns from a number of parties.

One of them, the Arfak Tribal Chief, Obet Ayok.

Ayok said, Manokwari is a city of civilization, and this land has spawned a number of indigenous Papuan leaders (the Arfak Tribe).

"I ask all residents (Papuans and immigrants) in Manokwari, do not make the name of this area red," said Ayok, as quoted from TribunPapuaBarat.com, Tuesday (19/10/2021).

He continued, lest outsiders judge all issues, including the raising of the flag, to be native to Manokwari.

According to him, any act to break away from the State of Indonesia, in the Land of Manokwari, is not very good.

"If you want to convey your aspirations, you can make them in a respectable forum. Don't play with the flag in a place like that," he said.

"Don't do things as if there are no more parents in the Land of Manokwari. Don't let outsiders judge Tanah Arfak to accommodate separatists," he said.

He considered that raising the flag at the Telkomsel Tower is the same as that of a thief on the street.

Ayok hopes that the TNI-Polri (Kodam and Polda) must be able to maintain and care for the unity and integrity in Manokwari, to survive in the Republic of Indonesia.
