Members of the Papuan People's Assembly: OPM's December 1st Anniversary is a Fool

A member of the Papuan People's Assembly, Herman Yoku, said that the OPM Anniversary on December 1 was a fool for the younger generation in Papua.

Because he said, the anniversary of the OPM believes in wrong history.

"Those who claim December 1 as the Independence Day of Papua are because they don't understand history, December 1 is someone who claims to be the Anniversary of Papuan Independence," he said, as quoted from the Papua Tribune, Friday (11/26/2021).

For information, the OPM anniversary falls on December 1 every year since 1965.

But now the calendar is rejected by several community leaders, adat and religious leaders in Papua.

The figures stated that they did not want to be trapped by the OPM propaganda that lured full independence for West Papua.

According to historical figures, the OPM anniversary commemoration was a big mistake.

Even some of the figures who were once affiliated with the OPM are now rejecting the organization as a forum for struggle.

The reason is because the OPM is considered to often create chaos by justifying violent means.

According to Herman, December 1, which has been claimed as the anniversary, is a historical error.

"December 1, which has been claimed to be the Independence Day of West Papua, is a mistake and a historical fraud that continues to this day," he said.

In addition, he claimed that the Morning Star flag that had been flown so far was actually the flag of a football club.

According to him, the Morning Star flag which is currently claimed to be the State Flag of West Papua is actually the flag of the football club from Nafri Village.

In Keerom District, community leaders no longer want to be deceived by OPM propaganda about the dream of West Papuan independence.

The combatant, who does not want to be named, has returned to Mother Earth's lap long ago.

There were 5 points of attitude that they conveyed about their firm rejection of the OPM:

1. Inviting all elements of the Papuan community in particular and the Indonesian people in general to reject the OPM Anniversary on December 1st.

2. Request all security forces to take firm action against any group that will celebrate the OPM Anniversary.
3. Strictly reject the separatist groups who often make people suffer and hinder development.

4. Inviting the whole community to maintain the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is final and Papua remains in the lap of the Republic of Indonesia.

5. Papua remains red and white, Papua NKRI, Papua Peace.
