The State Budget Continues to Drive Papua's Economy
The success of organizing PON XX and PEPARNAS Papua cannot be separated from the support of the State Budget in providing various supporting infrastructures that can provide social and economic benefits to the people of Papua and its surroundings. This was stated by the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati in a press conference for the Minister of Finance's Working Visit in Jayapura, Friday (26/11).
"I hope the economy in Papua will grow even higher because Papua in 2021 will have a much higher economic growth than the national level, above 14%, because Papua is driven by commodities. In this situation, Papua will enjoy in addition to the special autonomy fund, later it will receive profit-sharing funds. Moreover, yesterday we fully supported the successful implementation of PON and PEPARNAS,” said the Minister of Finance.
The Minister of Finance also hopes that this will be a momentum for Papua to continue to develop, especially its resources, to become great human beings. The government will fully support it, and the Minister of Finance hopes that the entire budget that has been allocated is used to the maximum extent possible to create improvements for human resources and welfare as well as to encourage the economy to bounce back.
Meanwhile, the improvement of the Special Autonomy Fund policy aims to progress and improve the welfare of the Papuan people and indigenous Papuans. The change in the amount of the Special Autonomy Fund from 2% to 2.25% of the DAU allocation is expected to provide optimal, fair and accountable benefits for the acceleration of Papua's development. In addition, the Ministry of Finance also supports the improvement of new governance in the use of the Special Autonomy Fund to improve the management of the use of the Special Autonomy Fund towards a more prosperous Papuan people and indigenous Papuans.
In the future, support for the acceleration of the management of the Special Autonomy Fund through the Secretariat of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development (BP3OKP) carried out by the Vertical Office of the Ministry of Finance has the role of synchronization, harmonization, evaluation, and coordination to accelerate Papua's development.
The presence of assistance and supervision from the Central Government (through technical ministries/agencies) from the planning, coaching, monitoring, to evaluation stages will ensure that the distribution of special autonomy and TKDD funds in Papua can run well, hopefully by cutting the bureaucratic chain and implementing comprehensive assistance and supervision. the noble mission to provide equitable development and increase welfare in Papua can be achieved.
