Papua Will Hold Paragliding World Championship

The paragliding world championship, which is planned to be held in Papua, brings at least two benefits.

First, the existing paragliding arena can be used optimally.
 
"Second, the paragliding world championship in Papua has made many people from outside Papua come to Earth of Cendrawasih," said the General Secretary of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Papua, Kenius Kogoya, Monday (22/11/2021).

Kenius explained that the participants of the paragliding world championship could also enjoy the natural panorama of Papua.

"Their presence also brings economic benefits," he said.

Kenius said the plan was for the world paragliding championship to take place in 2022.

Meanwhile, KONI Papua will also hold a Provincial Sports Week (porprov) in 2022.

Porprov Papua, according to KONI Papua records, will take place around June 2022 or July 2022.

"This is the closest agenda to be implemented," said Kenius Kogoya.

Related to the Porprov agenda, Kenius hopes that districts or cities can carry out regional sports weeks (porda) earlier.

"We hope that porda will take place in March or May 2022," he said.

The implementation of the porda, said Kenius, gave an opportunity for potential athletes to be selected early so that they would then take part in the porprov.
