West Papua Achieves 98 Percent UHC, BPJS Health Gives Award
The West Papua Provincial Government has once again realized its commitment to providing health insurance to the community through the National Health Insurance-Healthy Indonesia Card (JKN-KIS) Program.
This is evidenced by the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) with the registration of 98 percent of the population of West Papua Province which has been running since 2018.
Director of Membership and Participant Services BPJS Kesehatan David Bangun appreciates the commitment of the West Papua Provincial Government by submitting a UHC award certificate.
JKN-KIS participation reaches 1.14 million people
This award is related to the determination of West Papua Province which has achieved the UHC of the JKN-KIS Program for the achievement of JKN-KIS membership of 1,148,538 people or 98 percent of the total population of 1,222,650 people.
“Speaking of UHC, of course, it is not only targeting the participation coverage of the entire population of Indonesia. UHC also ensures that everyone has access to comprehensive and quality health services without financial barriers," said David Bangun in a release, Thursday, November 4, 2021.
David expressed his gratitude to the West Papua Provincial Government for being the 3rd province in Indonesia in achieving Universal Health Coverage since 2018 despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to David Bangun, this achievement can encourage the West Papua Provincial Government to maintain the achievements that have been achieved and stimulate participation coverage for the entire population as well as the West Papua Provincial Government.
"We hope that the achievements and achievements of West Papua Province can be an example for other provinces," David added.

UHC Award the Pride of the People of West Papua
West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan said that this UHC award is a joint pride of the people of West Papua. The West Papuan government will always be committed to having its people registered as JKN-KIS participants.
"Participation can be activated immediately because the UHC predicate for the non-cut off system can be felt directly by the community, with population participation registered by the regional government being able to be activated immediately without waiting for the next month," said Dominggus Mandacan.
On that occasion, a Universal Health Coverage (UHC) cooperation agreement was signed between the Manokwari Branch of BPJS Kesehatan and the Fakfak Regional Government.
