"We as security forces here, the Yapen Islands Police and Kodim 1709/Yawa have a high commitment to protecting our territory, where we consider the Yapen people as part of the family," said AKBP Ferdyan Indra Fahmi, Sunday (12/19/2021). ).

The Head of Police said that in addition to carrying out law enforcement activities, his party continued to make enforcement efforts in a persuasive and humane way.

"Currently we are also focusing on protecting the community and protecting the community in welcoming the celebration of Christmas Day. We have to make sure that the Christmas celebration goes on peacefully and safely so that all of our brothers and sisters carry out their worship in peace,” he said. Meanwhile Dandim 1708/Yawa Lieutenant Colonel Inf Catur Prasetyo said that the presence of the TNI and Polri was not meant to frighten.

"We are here together to advance development in the Yapen Islands region," he said. "We will continue to provide understanding and convince all my brothers and sisters that the TNI-Polri officers in the Yapen Islands are not enemies but family," he said. The government is here to build the Yapen Archipelago and help accelerate prosperity so that all people can feel it, in terms of education and in terms of health.

One of the members of the KKB who surrendered admitted that he had chosen to join the separatist group in the wrong way. "We have chosen the wrong path, so now we want to return to unite us together to realize the unity of the Republic of Indonesia. The police chief has said that we no longer need independence, we have all agreed to bring ourselves here and admit our mistakes," he said. The Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal appealed to other KKB members to follow in the footsteps of their brother who surrendered to the Republic of Indonesia.

"So that the Kamtibmas situation is more conducive and concentration can focus on developing the region by increasing human resources as well as advice and infrastructure to support people's lives to create prosperity," he said.
