Former OPM Commander Asks Lukas Enembe to resign because his performance is considered low

Former Commander of the National Liberation Army (TPN) of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) in Keerom Regency, Lambert Pekikir gave a strong criticism of the performance of the Governor of Papua Province, Lukas Enembe and Papuan regional officials. He asked them to immediately resign from their positions because they are considered to have low performance.

“His request is the wish of the Papuan people. The state has the power, if a leader, the Governor of Papua, the regional head is wrong, it is better to step down," he said, quoted on Sunday, December 12, 2021.

He also asked the central government to listen to the aspirations of the Papuan people and act decisively. According to him, officials in Papua should carry out the state's agenda. So if the official is negligent, then it deserves to be replaced.

"Resigning from office, the Minister of Home Affairs can do that, resign, well step down," he said.

Lambert also believes that the government in Papua is controlled by a number of 'minor governors'. These parties influence the Governor of Papua and impose their interests for certain purposes.

"Minor governors who condition it, the funds are arranged for their interests, while the people continue to suffer," he said.

Previously, the former OPM figure had asked the government to commit to eradicating corruption in Papua. "Otsus funds have been misused by elements in the administration of Otsus in the government," he said.

He recounted that the Otsus journey since nearly three decades has left a lot of suffering for Papuans. Otsus is considered not to belong to the Papuan people.

“Otsus is just 'sweets' that the central government offers as a bridge to enrich Papuan officials. The president must order the KPK and the police to arrest the corruptors who lost the Special Autonomy funds," he said.

For information, while still joining the OPM, Lambert Pekikir and his troops for 20 years lived in the middle of the Papuan jungle. He is known as the ruler of the Victoria Headquarters.

In mid-2013, Lambert returned to the NKRI. Even though he no longer holds a gun, he continues to fight against injustice and corruption.
