Improving Community Agriculture, West Papua Provincial Government Collaborates with Inspiring Young Papuans to Plant Corn on Former Oil Palm Land

The West Papua Provincial Government is developing the community's agricultural potential with the declaration of planting corn on former oil palm plantations.

The Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan said, to make the program a success, he collaborated with the Inspirational Young Papua organization (PMI).

"If millennial farmers from PMI and up to 2 million hectares of land in West Papua can be continuously supported and utilized, then the community's economy will improve and the younger generation will prosper with lots of jobs," said Dominggus Mandacan in a written statement, Thursday (12/23). ).
 
According to Dominggus, the program, which is supported by President Joko Widodo, actually targets as many as 2,000 millennial farmers. However, as a first step, he encouraged PMI as an influencer in the movement.

"The president has launched a millennial farmer program in Indonesia and in West Papua it is targeted that there are 2,000 millennial farmers, which will be run by Inspirational Young Papuans and supported by the Pabar Regional Government," he explained.

Inspirational Young Papua (PMI) is a youth organization assisted by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) whose task is to bring new enthusiasm for young Papuan people to implement the potential of their creative ideas.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Inspirational Young Papuans (PMI) for the West Papua Region, Simon Tabuni, added that PMI will collaborate with the government in a culture program that is full of benefits.
 
In addition, Simon also promised to continue to encourage and invite people to turn into entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.

"PMI is ready to support the Government's program through Millennial Farmers to encourage entrepreneurship in agriculture," he concluded.
