Make another tantrum, armed groups burn the building of the Serambakom Papua State Junior High School

Armed groups in Papua are at it again. They set fire to the Serambakom State Junior High School building, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua, Tuesday (12/14/2021). The fire started with the sound of gunfire.

"The arson allegedly carried out by the KKB began with gunshots, but the personnel on duty in the area did not respond," said the head of the Bintang Mountains Police, AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito, Tuesday (12/14/2021).

Cahyo explained that not long after, black smoke appeared which according to reports from the public was one of the buildings at the Serambakom State Junior High School.

The fire was reported to have occurred at around 09.00 WIT so that soldiers and police on duty at the Serambakom Post came to the location of the fire to move residents.
 
While they were transferring residents to the Wambakon Catholic church, they were shot at by armed groups, resulting in a shootout.

The gunfight that took place from 09.50 WIT to 11.15 WIT did not result in any casualties, he said, adding that at around 11.45 WIT smoke came back from around the location.

Joint officers at Serambakom are still on standby and personnel from the Bintang Mountains Police have not been able to be deployed to Serambakom because they are prone to disturbances by armed groups.

Sukarnito stated that earlier on last Sunday (5/12/2021) an armed group set fire to the SMA Negeri 1 Oksibil building.
