2021 National Christmas Committee Holds Humanitarian Action in West Papua



Chairperson of the 2021 National Christmas Committee Jerry Sambuaga distributes food packages for people on Mansinam Island, Manokwari, West Papua.
 
This assistance is part of a series of social action events for the 2021 National Christmas Committee.

"Mansinam Island has its own meaning for the local people because it is the initial place for the spread of Christianity in Papua," said Jerry Sambuaga in a press release, Monday (13/12).
 
According to Jerry, judging from its history, Papuan civilization cannot be separated from the role of missionaries in the past who came to Papua to spread the good news in the Bible.
 
"Mansinam is a witness to the history of a new civilization starting on this island, Manokwari, and eventually spreading to the entire mainland of Papua," he said.

Jerry, who is also the Deputy Minister of Trade, said that the 2021 Christmas commemoration which took place in the midst of a pandemic needed to be colored with a spirit of optimism to achieve the goals of the nation.
 
During his visit to Mansinam Island, accompanied by the Regent of Manokwari Hermus Indou, Jerry handed over packages of basic necessities in the form of rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, milk, sugar, margarine, bath soap, toothpaste and other food needs.

Not only providing assistance to the people on Mansinam Island, Jerry also helped fire victims at Sanggeng Market and Wosi Market, Manokwari in the form of food packages and food needs.
