The government plans a public communication task force for Papua

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology stated plans to establish a task force for public communications in Papua.

The Minister of Communications and Informatics, Johnny G. Plate during the Coordination Meeting for the Establishment of the Papuan Public Communications Task Force, explained that President Joko Widodo had directly appointed Vice President K.H. Ma'ruf Amin to handle the acceleration of Papua's welfare.

"Perhaps, at our meeting, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs has reported to the Vice President and the meeting participants that we are setting up a Task Force or Communications Task Force, but this Task Force or Task Force must be flamboyant," said Johnny G. Plate during the Coordination Meeting for the Establishment of the Communications Task Force. Papuan public, quoted from a press statement, Wednesday.

The government, said Johnny, is also improving coordination and orchestration of public communications so that policy changes can be understood both at home and abroad. The Minister of Communication and Information said the policy change was accompanied by a change in communication in order to change public perception.

He said many policies and developments that had taken place in Papua, however, had not been conveyed properly. Therefore, stronger coordination is needed for communication.

According to Johnny, it is time for optimal use of communication channels and media.

Minister Johnny's flamboyant approach relates to communication diplomacy involving all important decision makers.

"The communication must be flamboyant diplomacy, so the involvement and multiplication of all important decision makers. I don't want the content to be removed from Kominfo (only), but it needs to provide an overview of major changes in attitudes and policies as well as siding with Papuans," said Johnny.

For that, he considered that there was a need for solid teamwork by using an accurate and well orchestrated message substance orchestration.

"We form a team that is really solid and can convey accurate substance. We have to package it with others so that the orchestration is right and reaches the target. To bridge all of this we form a Task Force or Task Force, if necessary later it will be made with a legal umbrella that strong prepared," said Johnny.

The final target they want to achieve is that the policies and directions of the President can run well through the use of communication and information channels that are managed together. In addition, the implementation of public communication will be more effective.

Johnny assessed that there needs to be involvement from all parties, both the government and observers, academics to technical implementers in Papua.

The implementation of communication orchestration, apart from using channels and synchronizing information, according to Johnny also requires mutual commitment and support, especially to develop a common agenda, share roles and tasks up to the ranks closest to the target audience.
