TNI Soldiers Help Papuan Mama Give Birth in the Forest
TNI soldiers from the Indonesian Pamtas Task Force-PNG Battalion 123/RW Pos Yakyu help border residents of Rawa Biru Village, Merauke Regency, giving birth in the middle of the Papuan forest.
The Commander of the Indonesian Pamtas Task Force-PNG Infantry Battalion 123/RW Lt. Col. Inf Goklas P. Silaban in a statement, Saturday, said the soldiers of the Battalion 123/RW task force who are members of the Kolakopsrem 174/ATW of the RI-PNG Border Security Task Force must deal with emergency situations to save life. two lives at once in Rawabiru Village, Sota District, Merauke Regency.
At that time, TNI soldiers Battalion 123/Rajawali was at the post when a local resident suddenly approached to report that an elderly pregnant woman was in need of medical assistance under a thicket of banana trees on the edge of the forest.
"One of our posts at the Yakyu Post swiftly responded to the information and moved to the location," said Dansatgas Yonif 123/RW Lt. Col. Inf. Goklas P. Silaban.
Arriving at the location, it turns out that a pregnant woman named Novita is in a worrying condition. The baby in the womb is about to be born. While the situation at the location is not possible.
“Novita kept screaming hysterically because she had severe contractions. So at that time the mother was accompanying her husband to hunt in the forest. And in the middle of the road, emergency delivery measures must be taken," said Lt. Col. Goklas.
Under these conditions, according to Dansatgas Lieutenant Colonel Silaban, the 123th Infantry Battalion (TNI) soldiers immediately carried out emergency medical measures to save the lives of Novita and her baby.
“With makeshift medical equipment and lighting using only flashlights, the Yonif 123/Rajawali health soldier who previously consulted with the Task Force Doctor Lt. Ckm dr. Bintang Karlien Ass.Eng, helped the delivery process," said Dansatgas Yonif 123/RW.
Lt. Col. Silaban admitted that the emergency delivery was successful because the baby and mother were saved.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the Yakyu TNI Post, Lt. Darwin Simanulang, explained that at that time it was indeed impossible to take Novita to a proper place of delivery because she had contractions and heavy bleeding, so treatment had to be done immediately.
"Under these conditions, finally Novita had to do an emergency delivery on a banana plantation and was able to give birth safely. The baby girl who was born by Novita was the seventh child with her husband named Daniel," she said.
First Lieutenant Darwin said that Novita's family was very grateful for the emergency assistance provided by the Pamtas Battalion Battalion 123/Rajawali soldier.
