Religious Leader Pdt. Pilemon Gobay Highlights the Provocation of Separatist Groups

The changing of the year has become a hope in itself for Papua. One of the religious leaders Pdt. Pilemon Gobay hopes that in this new year, Papua will write good stories with coolness and peace.

Regarding his wishful thinking, Rev. Pilemon stated that blessing in good or calamity in evil is the answer for every person's treatment of others, or also of the universe.

"I believe every kindness will be rewarded with kindness, and vice versa. Not only to other people but also to the universe. Everything will be repaid according to the way we treat it," he said as quoted from the Papua Info Journal Monday, 03/01/2022.

Pdt Pilemon reminded that good hope for Papua was that in 2022 there will be no more actions that invite chaos and division. He firmly rejects the propaganda efforts that are often carried out by separatist groups in Papua.

“The new year means new enthusiasm and hope, every one of us would want a good change from time to time. Therefore, from now on we think about good things, no longer do propaganda with lies just to pass interests, "

Because Rev. Pilemon said that hopes and prayers about goodness in the new year will only be raw and useless if they still behave badly and harm others, he said that this is a form of futility.

“It will be useless for the kind prayers we ask for if our behavior does not reflect ourselves as good people. Good will be obtained by those who are pure in heart, and evil will be obtained by those who are unclean.”

Rev. Pilemon emphasized that it is best if all elements could sit down together to discuss progress and new hopes for Papua without having to mention the actions of conflicts or dark stories that have occurred on Earth of Cenderawasih.

“The past can be used as a lesson so that we don't repeat it again in the future. It's time to sit down together to discuss so that Papua can become a better region. Progress is the most realistic and desirable thing for everyone."
