Deter the Spread of Omicron, Binda West Papua Boosts Mass Vaccination
The West Papua Regional State Intelligence Agency (Binda) has again boosted mass vaccination. This activity was carried out to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 variant of the Omicron variant which was increasing.
The Coordinator of the West Papua Binda Vaccination, Colonel Arh Hendra, said mass vaccinations would continue to be boosted. It is targeted that all the general public can be vaccinated.
"The COVID-19 vaccination will continue to be carried out to remote areas and target all levels of society," said Hendra in his statement, Saturday (5/2/2022).
Furthermore, Hendra said, this vaccination also aims to anticipate an increase in the number of hospitalizations. Especially in health facilities.
"Many experts have revealed that with vaccines, COVID-19 symptoms are reduced and this can reduce the rate of increase in people being hospitalized at health facilities," he added.
The vaccination this time was carried out simultaneously in nine regions, namely Manokwari, Raja Ampat, South Manokwari, and Sorong Regencies. Then Sorong City, Kaimana, Wondama Bay, Bintuni Bay, and Fakfak.
For information, it was recorded that until Friday, February 4, 2022, there were 220 active COVID-19 cases in West Papua. Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia touched 32,211 cases.
