For Bible-based Empowerment, the Government Supports the Development of the Papua Christian Center

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe officially launched the construction of the Papua Christian Center (PCC) at the 167th celebration of the Gospel in Tanah Papua, Saturday, February 5, 2022, last week, in Jayapura.

The existence of the PCC is expected to later accommodate Christian workers in Papua who work in the field of evangelism.

“The Papuan provincial government will consistently support the construction of the Papua Christian Center, which was launched today. The presence of the PCC is a strategic step, which is the first step in the long journey of development, development and empowerment of the Papuan people based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ”.

"In addition, this PCC will also be a forum, a meeting point, a place for synergy between the government and the church in dealing with gospel works, in order to bring salvation and prosperity to everyone," explained Luke Enembe during the service.

While relating to the commemoration of the 167th Anniversary of the Evangelization of the Gospel, he continued, we should be grateful because the Lord Jesus Christ has given the opportunity so that we can celebrate it together with the Papuan people.

In addition, the fire of the gospel was brought by Ottow and Geissler to Mansinam, February 5, 1855, exactly 167 years ago. The fire of the Gospel has already been lit, and will continue to burn, from the Land of Papua to all nations. Because God loves humans so much and puts humans as the main subject in the plan of salvation.

"This safety plan can touch all areas of human life, including health, people's economic development, education, community development, development of community institutions (indigenous and modern), and village development."

“Meanwhile, in the context of the Papuan people, the ministry of evangelism that can touch and build all aspects of human life is faced with challenges and obstacles that are not easy. However, the church's ministry as salt and light of the world is still and will continue to be an important part of national development in Papua," he stressed.

Lukas Enembe added, the government's focus on service to the community is not only for the gospel workers or the church. But it is also the focus of the struggle of the Papuan provincial government as outlined in the vision of the Papuan provincial government, namely Papua Rising, Independent and Prosperous with Justice.

The government's vision is expected not only to be carried out by the government but also the responsibility of the churches in Papua.

"For this reason, it is proper to understand that the government and the church are working partners who can synergize to serve the people and the community."

“Because the church has an important role in shaping the religious character of the people and the people are essentially called to be light bearers for progress and prosperity and to renew life together.

"The church acts as a reformer and development agent for the Papuan people," he said.
